What is an unattended funeral?

Our unattended, or direct cremations, offer a modern, fuss-free alternative. This is a cremation without a funeral service, allowing you to remember and celebrate them in your own way.

What’s included:

Bringing them into our care

We’ll collect the person who’s died and bring them back into our care within 15 miles each way. Where a longer journey is needed, it’s £2 per mile.

Arranging for cremation 

We’ll take care of all the necessary arrangements for the cremation, which will happen at our Bretby crematorium, or a local crematorium of our choice.

Care of the person who’s died before the funeral

We’ll wash and dress the person who’s died in a simple robe.

A simple coffin

We include the doctors fee in our price, so there’s nothing extra to pay.

Visiting

Unlike lots of other funeral directors, you can choose to visit the person who’s died before their cremation (£45). We know that it’s important for you to be able to say goodbye in whatever way is right for you, so just let us know if you, or someone else, would like to visit.

After the cremation

We can intern their ashes in our bio soil at Bretby, lowering the impact on the environment, you can collect them from the funeral directors (£45) or visit Bretby to collect them.
