Cooking is off the menu (for mum at least)

Take over the kitchen this Mother's Day. From breakfast in bed to a banquet fit for a queen, it's all down to you.

Get inspired by these breakfast ideas and three-course meals that include vegan and veggie delights. If you have kids, get them to help - even little ones can weigh and stir.  And don't forget to wash up!

Thank you, Mum

First thing (but not too early…)

Breakfast in bed is a classic way to start Mother’s Day. Load up a tray with fruit pancakes, a ‘breakfast stack’ (with layers of homemade granola, yoghurt and fruit) or our heart-shaped crumpets with lashings of jam. It’s the breakfast of champions.

Plant-based perfection

If you’re catering for a vegan, fill her plate with textures, tastes and colours that are sure to satisfy. Start with carrot and apple soup, with turmeric-spiced mushroom pilaf as your main course, followed by golden-syrup baked apples with dairy-free ice cream.

Very veggie

Create a filling feast with these classic dishes, bursting with tasty veggies. Tempura of cauliflower with chilli dip, vegetarian lasagne and a fruit pie - buy ready-made shortcrust pastry if you don’t fancy making your own.

Delizioso!

Whisk her off to Rome this Mother’s Day, without leaving the house. Start with an antipasti sharing platter, move on to crayfish, chilli and garlic linguine then finish with a creamy panna cotta with raspberry coulis. You might even like to download a playlist of Italian music to set the tone.

Scrumptiously spicy

Turn up the heat a little! Crispy coconut tiger prawns, a chicken balti to rival her favourite takeaway, and spiced orange rice pudding to finish. Or, if she’d rather have something a little cooler for dessert, take a look at our sorbet recipes instead.

Delish fish

If she loves a fish dish, we’ve got just the thing. Delicate salmon canapes (serve with a salad), then herb-crusted haddock with new potatoes and steamed veg, all topped off with a delightfully indulgent blueberry and white chocolate mousse. Enjoy!
