of fruit, treats and essentials such as tea and coffee and dropped them off for those currently hard at work at Lichfield Cathedral protecting people from across the area against the virus.
This is the first of nearly 20 planned donations that will see vaccination centres across the 16 counties Central England Co-op trade in receive ‘thank you’ care packages to provide a boost to those working hard to immunise the nation.
Store manager Jamie Joyce said: “Throughout the pandemic we have been proud to play any part we can to support people across the local community and reward those who are making a difference.
“When we heard that health workers and volunteers would be delivering the vaccine to people out of Lichfield Cathedral we quickly put together a big care package to not only say ‘thank you’ for their efforts but to give them a little lift during their long days.
“It was great to drop off the items and meet the team in person. We hope they enjoy the food and essentials and we cannot thank them enough for their work to ensure as many people as possible are better protected from Covid-19.”
The team from the store delivered the items via its brand new eco-friendly home delivery vehicle, which is being used as part of a service that allows people who are self-isolating to order their shopping online or via an app and have it delivered right to their door.
Deirdre Smouna, Practice Manager from Langton Medical Group, said: "The staff of The Westgate Practice and The Langton Medical Group, Cathedral staff and volunteers are extremely grateful for the donation of treats.
“It is lovely to receive this support from an important member of the local business community.”
