Central Co-op is thrilled to announce its support for Belper Goes Green, the local eco, community and arts festival, as part of Great Big Green Week 2024. Each year, Belper Goes Green promises three days filled with community spirit, live music, insightful talks, delicious food and eco-conscious activities at Belper Meadows Cricket Club.

Running from 8th to 16th June, the theme for this year’s Great Big Green Week is “swaps”, highlighting the everyday changes people are making to create a safer, greener future.

Central Co-op’s Membership & Community Council took part in the Belper Goes Green festival on Saturday the 8th of June, giving away hampers full of products from its Our Malawi Partnership range and other eco items. The team engaged attendees with fun activities such as potting plants and rock painting, while also providing valuable information on the sustainable swaps available at Central Co-op's local stores and funeral homes.

These swaps include the eco-friendly and Fairtrade products on offer in stores this summer, greener goodbye options for funerals and energy-efficient ways of working designed to reduce the Society’s carbon footprint and promote a greener lifestyle.

"We are excited to be part of Great Big Green Week and support Belper Goes Green. At Central Co-op, we are committed to sustainability and community engagement," said Tanya Noon, Member & Community Relations Officer of Central Co-op. "This festival is a fantastic opportunity to connect with our community and share practical ways to make environmentally conscious choices."
