Central Co-op launches Grounded Therapy trial for funeral colleagues

Central Co-op is proud to announce the launch of a three-month trial partnership with Grounded Therapy, an innovative digital mental health platform designed by qualified psychotherapists. This initiative aims to provide enhanced mental health and wellbeing support exclusively for Central Co-op funeral colleagues, who work in unique and emotionally demanding roles.

Funeral colleagues regularly navigate sensitive and challenging situations. Recognising the importance of prioritising their mental health, Central Co-op is committed to providing quick and easy access to effective wellbeing resources. The trial period will allow the partnership to evaluate the impact of Grounded's services and ensure it meets the needs of colleagues.

Grounded delivers a wide range of support services, including:

  • Direct access to one-to-one counselling: Colleagues can book sessions without the need for a manager’s referral.
  • Workshops on key topics: These include loss and bereavement, sleep hygiene, and managing compassion fatigue.
  • 24/7 access to self-help resources: A library of tools and guidance for maintaining good mental health.
  • Support for leaders: Workshops tailored to help leaders foster and sustain a positive workplace culture.

Accessing Grounded is simple: colleagues can log in via the Grounded app or website using their exclusive Central Co-op code. Once registered, they can book therapy sessions, join workshops, or explore self-help materials at their convenience.

The partnership was developed with valuable input from funeral colleagues and Central Co-op's Wellbeing Champions to ensure it directly addresses the challenges faced by those in these roles. Earlier this year, Central Co-op launched its We’ve Got You campaign, which focuses on making wellbeing support accessible when colleagues need it most. Grounded is the latest initiative under this banner, reflecting Central Co-op’s commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive workplace.

All interactions with Grounded are confidential, with no identifiable data shared with Central Co-op. This ensures colleagues feel safe and secure in seeking support.

Naomi Smith, Inclusion and Wellbeing Manager at Central Co-op, said: "Our funeral colleagues face unique challenges in their roles, and we are committed to ensuring they have access to the best mental health support available. Grounded Therapy provides a seamless and innovative approach to wellbeing, offering both flexibility and expert guidance. We’re excited to trial this partnership and continue making a difference to our colleagues’ lives.”

Bal Kaur, Chief Operation Officer at Grounded Therapy, said: "We are thrilled to partner with Central Co-op to support their funeral service colleagues, who perform profoundly impactful work under uniquely challenging circumstances. Our approach integrates personalised counselling with actionable strategies, designed to enhance mental well-being across all levels of the business. This ensures that every colleague can directly and confidentially access the support they need. We are eager to see the positive changes this partnership will bring.”

Central Co-op will closely monitor the success of this trial, with the goal of implementing long-term solutions to support its funeral colleagues and ensure their wellbeing remains a priority.
