A Central England Co-op shop in a Leicestershire town has been transformed with a six-figure investment giving a boost to the local community.

The food store in Anson Road, Shepshed has received a makeover to give it a lighter, fresher feel and includes some exciting new features and ranges for locals to enjoy.

The community food store in Shepshed has been undergoing the makeover in recent weeks with changes including:

  • New product ranges to suit shoppers’ tastes
  • Fantastic new food to go section with features such as a Tango Ice Blast machine and a new hot food unit
  • Refreshed signage and decoration inside and out
  • New outdoor seating for the local community to enjoy

Store Manager Michelle Ward said: “It’s really exciting for me being so new to the store after taking on the manager role at Anson Road last year to be leading the team through this great transformation.

“It’s a big investment and a really big refresh of the store for the community. The team also think it’s great and many of them have been here since the store first opened in 2015 so it’s nice for them to see the investment in the store.

“The ease of shop for our customers is much better and we have a brand new food to go area with hot food, Tango Ice Blast and Costa Coffee where people can get in and get their lunch and snacks without having to queue for the kiosk first as it has all been moved around.

“We also have the bakery now at the front of the store rather than hidden away so people can see it and smell it as soon as they walk in.

“We’ve been really looking forward to showing our loyal customers and members the finished transformation. We have a great community here and they have a lovely rapport with the team. I would like to thank them for their continued support and for their patience while we brought our new look store to life, and I hope they agree with us that it’s been worth it.”

The Anson Road Food Store is open Monday to Sunday 7am-10pm. The store has a wide range of products from everyday necessities to something a little more special and also offers a lifesaving defibrillator, cash machine, Lottery, Collect Plus/Paypoint, an instore bakery and a customer car park.

The store also offers a home delivery service via the Snappy Shopper app with shopping delivered via an eco-friendly electric van.
