Central Co-op is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its new community store in Scunthorpe, which took place on Friday the 28th of June. This exciting new venture has created 19 new jobs for local residents, gaining community support and engagement.

The store, located at the new Kingsway Retail Park in Scunthorpe, is designed with sustainability and community in mind. Eco-friendly fridges have been installed to reduce the environmental impact, and the car park features four electric vehicle charge points to support the shift towards green transportation. Additionally, a free bike repair station is available, encouraging eco-friendly commuting options for shoppers.

Central Co-op is committed to supporting the local community. Customers can find a defibrillator, a free water fountain, and a community notice board for local announcements and events. In collaboration with the Trussell Trust Scunthorpe Foodbank, there is also a dedicated donation point where customers can contribute food items to support those in need.

The store offers a range of amenities to enhance the shopping experience, including hot food options, a Tango Ice Blast machine, an Insomnia Cafe machine, and a customer toilet with baby changing facilities. Outdoor seating is available for those who wish to relax and enjoy their refreshments on-site.

The grand opening was a community celebration, attended by Crystal Lucas, founder of Worksop Pride, Tim Parker from Trussell Trust Scunthorpe Foodbank, and special educational needs students from North Lindsey College. Together, they had the honour of cutting the ribbon to mark the store's official opening. Later in the day, Humberside Police joined the festivities to show their support for the new store and its community initiatives.

A special highlight of the event was the presentation of a hand-painted England flag by North Lindsey College's special educational needs students, celebrating the spirit of community and the excitement of the Euros.

Central Co-op Members can experience extra savings at the store via Member pricing on over 100 items, ranging from everyday essentials including milk, eggs, and bread to cleaning products, toiletries, pet products, and more. This is part of Central Co-op's commitment to bringing value to Members, all of which can be found on the Membership App.
