Growing Works from Shepley is celebrating after receiving a cheque for £500 from Central England Co-operative.
The cheque was presented to Paul Burnett from the local group by Store Manager Mark Freeman on Monday (16th) after it made an application to Central England Co-operative’s Community Dividend Fund. The funds will be used to purchase craft items and software which will directly benefit people from the local community.
Paul Burnett from Growing Works said: “We would like to thank Central England Co-operative for these much needed funds. The money will be used to buy craft equipment to aid behavior management for children with special needs .”
Charities and local groups can apply for awards through Central England Co-operative’s Community Dividend Fund which guarantees that at least 1% of the Society’s trading profit is reinvested in local communities. The scheme has already donated over £2million to local neighbourhood causes.
Mark Freeman, Store Manager at Central England Co-operative’s Shepley Food Store added: “It is a founding principle of our Society to reward customer loyalty by investing in and supporting local communities. Every three months, many schemes benefit from awards which range in value from £100 to £5,000 making local communities better places for our members to live and work in. This is a very worthwhile project which will benefit young people for many years to come.”
Any member of Central England Co-operative can apply for a Community Dividend award and application forms are available at any Central England Co-operative trading outlet or can be downloaded from our website: http://communities.centralengland.coop/
