Corporate Charity

Dementia UK is our colleague-elected corporate charity for 2017-2020. We will be focusing on fundraising to help families, and those living with dementia in our communities.

Dementia UK provides support through their Admiral Nurse Service and a dedicated Dementia Helpline, both specialist services support those affected by Dementia, alleviating concerns and answering questions for sufferers and their families.

Admiral Nurses work alongside people with dementia and their families and offer one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions so they can face dementia with more confidence and less fear. The nurses can be found based in the community, as well as operating out of hospitals and care homes.

The Dementia Helpline is available to anyone in need of advice and is staffed by qualified Admiral Nurses who offer support with any Dementia related queries. The people who most often contact Dementia UK are families caring for someone with dementia, but the helpline is also available to people with a diagnosis of dementia, those worried about their memory or the memory of a loved one, and professionals working in dementia care.

There are over 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK at the moment with estimates in place for there to be over 1 million people by 2025.
